How to Write Holiday Cards for Business

People often mistake holiday cards for business purposes to be the same as normal greeting cards. Although both have the general goal of wishing people a happy holiday, the tone of the message is obviously different. As a business owner, you must know how to write a business holiday card appropriately. Here are some basic tips to remember.

Make it Formal and A Little Bit Personal

Holiday cards for business should be a great mix of formal and informal. A basic rule of thumb is to avoid using the person’s first name. The titles: (Mr., Mrs., Ms.) plus their last names are sufficient enough. Sometimes if people have professional titles, then that would even be more appropriate. However, being formal doesn’t mean you have to utilize the “dear sir or madam” approach. Being too formal will make the card lose its personal touch and will make it seem mass-produced, taking away the majority of the sincerity behind the card.

Be Polite and Respectful

This probably goes without saying, but using a polite and respectful tone is a fundamental practice when writing business holiday cards. When people are respected and valued, they feel that they are in control. The cards simply remind them that you are there to assist them and cater to their needs. If you make the most of this, customers and business partners will respond well to your holiday cards.

Push Promotions in a Subtle Way

Holidays cards for business always incorporate sales and promos with their holiday greetings. Unfortunately, a lot of folks dislike unsolicited business mail. When sending your card, don’t make it appear too obvious that you are pushing your products and services. Cards like those normally end up in the recycle bin with all the other junk mail. Instead, minimize the amount of marketing and advertising talk. Pay more attention to reinforcing connections with the person. You can subtly mention a promo in the message, but not to the point that you are discussing it in detail. There should be more greeting than selling in your greeting cards.

In summary, business greeting cards are a great way to market and advertise. When done correctly, you will be amazed at how effective it is in boosting sales, building relationships and just getting your business name and your name out there to public. Just make sure to follow these very simple reminders.
